Diamond Jubilee Work Party

So obviously its the Jubilee weekend this weekend and today we had a little lunch party in the office. We had a huge range of cakes (most people made them) and some lovely sandwiches (that I made) and one of my favourites ...  cocktail sausages. Now I know that none of this food is going to be good for my waistline....however this is only a once in a lifetime occasion! What I like most is how pretty everything looks, the town where I work has got lots of bunting up and all the shops have got Union Jacks in the windows. It looks great!

Last night I did 45 minutes of Zumba and boy oh boy did I sweat! It was great. I don't know if you are familiar with the Zumba on the Wii but it comes with this waistband that you can then put the controller in. I always find that the waistband moves around and starts becoming really annoying...so I did an ingenious thing. I cut the holder where the main controller sits and sewed it on to my running trousers. Last night I got the highest score ever and it really motivated me to push even harder.

This morning I didn't do my exercise routine as they recommend that you do the routine every other day also because I did my Zumba I felt that it was ok. My kettlebells are on their way, I am so excited about them arriving.....toned arms here I come!

Early Morning Workout

So my new routine involves getting up early to do a morning work out. The routine is really easy to follow an I got it from Women's Health Mag (UK edition). You don't need alot of equipment just some weights. Its all about toning up which is perfect for me. I think so far my favourite, but the hardest, is the plank. You can really feel all your body trying to support you!! I do my work out outside at the moment, I am sure that will change when winter comes but for the moment it's great. I put some Latin music on and can feel my muscles working. It feels like a great way to start the day. This was my view this morning....

Today I am at work and will be eating nice and healthy. The good thing about doing my workout in the morning is that it really puts me in the right frame of mind for the day to continue making healthy choices. In the book "Just 10lbs" there is this really good paragraph  about how you are in control of your choices and BY CHOOSING THE HEALTHIER OPTION I AM CHOOSING TO BE SLIMMER. Makes you think hey?! I also hope to do some Zumba this evening. I have it on the Wii so can do it at home and look like an idiot in private!!!

Outsmart Your Bad Habits

Really good article I found on Womens Helath Magazine. It is so true that so much eating is habbits!

Quick Intro

I have struggled with my weight for years... I have gone up and down so much.. but mainly UP! Until recently I didn't really understand why or how. So again I looked for another option, something to blame it on or something to provide a quick fix.  I read this book called "Just 10lbs" and guess what... there was no quick fix. Instead the person to blame was ME! (shock horror) it made so many good points about understanding why you overeat and emotional issues that can actually have a really big impact on your habits. It also talks about all the things we don't realise like the "empty eating" which is when you eat because you are bored or because you have some crisps and you are in front of the TV. Anyway it really opened my eyes to so many things.

My first thing to do in February this year was to change jobs. That would be my first piece of advice...if you don't like your surroundings...change them. It will make a huge difference to your eating and general well being especially if you are an emotional eater like me. In my first week from changing jobs I lost 4lbs, that says it all really.

I also keep a record of everything I eat I found this really good free app called FatSecret. You can join the community there on the website (www.fatsecret.com) as well as having the app which allows you to record EVERYTHING and you can scan barcodes of your foods to record them as well.

The last few weeks after loosing 16lbs I lost my motivation. I didn't put on any weight but also didn't loose any. I got my motivation back by buying Womens Health Magazine it was full of such good ideas for health and fitness with such good workouts for all shapes and sizes. What I really liked is that it's not just for people that are already helathy and fit it really seems that they are talking to all people with an interest in becoming healthy. They also have great ideas for food and celeb stories as well as fashion ... I am totally in love with it I admit.

This week is the start of my fitness lifestyle... and like I always say..
